  Phonics Game—Play Ball !   
1. Divide the class into 2 teams. Invite Ss to name their teams using word with 
   consonants or vowels, for example, “The Short-I Batters.”

2. In turn, one player on the first team selects a bat-word card and read 
    aloud the word.   If the word is correctly read, the player moves the  
    baseball the number of bases indicated on the back of the card. 
    (On the back of each bat, write a number between 1 and 4. Only use the 
    number 4 two times; the number 3 three times.) 

3. If the player is incorrect, the team earns an out. 

4. When 3 outs are earned, the second team is up at bat.
