Introductory blurb:

將課本字彙編列為校園尋寶的主要題庫,

活動式的動態評量

可以是形成性評量,

也可以是總結性評量。

In this activity, players in teams choose the mission.

 

It is a digital and dynamic vocabulary scavenger hunt to provide students a fresh English learning experience.

 

It could be a formative or summative assessment.

當各組學生在校園內找到物件的時候,

可以透過校內 wifi,

立刻上傳繳交!

幸運的孩子,

剛好下過雨的臺北市,

真的找到香菇!

大家都好興奮!

 

When they find the objects around the campus, they can take and upload the corresponding photos, videos, key in texts, or GPS location.

 

To play this game, learners are expected to work cooperatively.

Procedure: 流程

 

首先將全班分成3組,

結合班級經營技巧,

最乖的那一組可以先行出發探索校園!!

Step 1.

The educator logs in the GooseChase EDU site with Google Edu account.
 

The class is divided into three teams. 
 

Students tap the GooseChase app on the iPads and key in the game code provided by the teacher.
 

Teacher manually sets the start and end time.

Step 2.

The students could see a list of missionary target words or some clues.


The words are basically from the textbook the Nature Unit, such as insects, clouds, rocks, flowers, mushrooms, etc.


(The word lists could be customized.) 

字彙可以自行編輯,我主要來自第一單元 Nature 的內容。

Step 3. 

Students stand up and move!
 

They work together, collect points, and complete the challenges!
 

When time is up, the team with the most points wins!
 

Let’s see which team get back to the classroom soon.
 

The fastest team will be the winner.

 

計時開始,系統可以設定時間,

最快在時間內完成任務的組別就是贏家!!

 

Step 4. 

After completing the scavenger hunt at the campus with the app, teachers can show the ‘evidence’ to the whole class.


So the findings between the target words could be revealed and double-checked.

全班都回到教室,

一樣結合班級經營技巧,

又快又安靜全組回到座位的組別

才是真正的贏家!!

 

教師透過系統,

立刻呈現出每一個主要字彙,

各組繳交的成果是否正確,

全班都會很仔細看,

也再一次的複習了這些主要英語字彙呢!!

 

Step 5. 

The Teacher could ‘add bonus’ or ‘minus bonus’ if he/she thinks the submissions are incorrect.


The leaderboard will directly demonstrate who is in the winning team today.

教師設計題目的時候就可以設定,

比較難找到的字彙分數會比較多分;

比較好找到的字彙,

例如:clouds 雲朵(只要對著天上拍藍天白雲就好了),

分數就給基本分,

學生也會有小小成就感,

所以他們有的組別會先把簡單的字彙先找完蒐集完!

每一組使用的得分策略不同,

就是靠小朋友的合作學習討論出共識,

也是一種很棒的人際互動學習!

Caveats & Options: Cindy老師的貼心小提醒

In the free version of GooseChase app, teachers can have up to three teams with three mobile devices per class for each live game.

免費版的最多有3組可以使用。


In other words, the maximum of three teams at one live game mode can complete the missions.
 

If teachers teach more than one class, they need to ‘download the submissions’ before the next class.

所以下一個班級來之前,

教師必需將前一個班級上傳的成果先透過電腦版先下載好這些珍貴的校園天然圖庫,

再透過剛剛學生使用過的 iPad ,

刪除系統已經繳交的圖資。
 

And of course, the answers will be revealed.


So teachers need to clear out students’ submissions from the previous class.

 

Otherwise, the mission columns will have already be all submitted.

Moreover, the video recordings are a maximum of 15 seconds.

答題的方式除了剛剛所敘述的可以用照片型式,

也可以上傳影片喔!

影片長度最多 15 分鐘。

 

The submission could have short dialogues or sentence text so that students’ writing and spelling skills could be enforced. 

還有,

GooseChase app 也可以設計讓學生透過「文字」來繳交上傳任務,

所以可以訓練學生的拼寫能力,

是不是答題方式很多元呢!

當然這要透過教師在設計題目的時候

就要選擇好學生答題的方式!

 

Furthermore, all of the mobile devices must be connected to Wi-Fi.

此外,這個字彙校園尋寶一定要連上網路,

因為是動態的、直接上傳的!
 

If there is no Wi-Fi at the whole campus, the missions should be in a certain area closed to the Wi-Fi provider in the classroom.

如果學校校內的無線網路區域範圍沒有到很廣泛,

教師在設計題目的時候,

就要考量到:

『您設計的字彙是否距離無線網路基地台夠近』。

不然會遇到一個狀況是,

學生明明拍好了,

但無法上傳,

解決方式是他們還要跑回教室附近,

等上傳之後,

再繼續闖關下一題!
